About
Leadership is not simply about who is in charge.
It is about whether an organization can think, decide, adapt and perform through its leaders.
About SLC
A strategic leadership and organizational performance consultancy.
Stephens Leadership Consultancy works with leaders and organizations navigating complexity, growth, transition and leadership risk. We advise CEOs, executive teams, boards and institutions on strengthening the people, systems and leadership architecture that drive performance.
Why SLC
What shapes our work.
- Practitioner perspective combined with disciplined consulting methodology
- Leadership, followership and organizational systems treated as one problem
- Proprietary diagnostic architecture
- Context-sensitive solutions rather than one-size-fits-all programmes
- Focus on sustainable capacity, not event-based training
Our work sits at the intersection of leadership behaviour, relational dynamics, organizational systems, strategy and continuity. We do not simply develop leaders; we help organizations build the conditions in which leadership can scale.
Founder & Lead Consultant
Dr. Toye Sobande
Strategic leadership scholar, practitioner and institution-builder.
Dr. Emmanuel Toye Sobande is a strategic leadership scholar and practitioner whose work sits at the intersection of leadership, culture, academia, law and institutional transformation. He is CEO and Lead Consultant of Stephens Leadership Consultancy, author of two books on leadership and organizational politics, a weekly columnist for BusinessDay Nigeria and graduate faculty at Dallas Baptist University.
He trained first in law, earning an LL.B. from Obafemi Awolowo University and an LL.M. in International Commercial Law from the University of Buckingham, before completing a Doctorate in Strategic Leadership at Regent University, Virginia Beach. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, a Certified Management Consultant and a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants.
His advisory work is grounded in two proprietary diagnostic frameworks developed through his practice: the Leadership Capacity Architecture™, which examines an organization’s leadership, relational, strategic, organizational and continuity capacity; and Organizational Forensics™, a diagnostic method for locating the root causes of leadership and performance friction before prescribing an intervention.
His public writing reaches a wide readership through The Leadership Factory, his weekly column in BusinessDay Nigeria. His commentary has also appeared in The Guardian, Punch, Vanguard and The Nation, and on Channels Television, Arise News, Silverbird Television, NTA and Inspiration FM. He serves as Publisher and Executive Director of the African American Leadership Journal.
In the classroom he teaches graduate courses in management and strategic leadership at Dallas Baptist University’s Don and Linda Carter School of Business, and has taught at Dallas Theological Seminary and Rome Business School across organizational leadership, cross-cultural management, strategic management and organizational behaviour.
